Travellers Rest Historic House Museum will host a seasonal Homeschool Day, “Nashville 1864,” on November 11, 2026. The museum’s Nashville 1864 program explores the Civil War in Middle Tennessee through the experiences of soldiers, civilians, and the enslaved at Travellers Rest and during the Battle of Nashville. Students learn how soldiers lived and fought and how the conflict affected the community. According to the program description, activities include a Civil War house tour, autograph books, soldier drill & life of a soldier, and time in Miss Annie’s Schoolhouse, and it is best for grades 4–12. Registration will open via Eventbrite from the Homeschool Programs page; advance purchase is encouraged. Travellers Rest Historic House Museum preserves and interprets the 1799 home of Judge John Overton in Nashville. It is the oldest historic house open to the public in the city and serves learners of all ages through history education programs covering roughly 1,000 years of regional history.
