GameSchoolCon
GameSchoolCon 2027 runs February 18-21 in Irvine, California, bringing together homeschool, unschooling, and gaming families for four days built around learning through play. The event includes a free-play open board game library, an exhibit hall of educational games, books, and crafts (open Saturday), speaker panels on gameschooling and neurodivergent learning, tabletop RPG one-shots for newcomers and veterans, a console lounge with Mario Kart and Smash Bros tournaments, and active game sessions covering Nerf battles, Quidditch, Laser Tag, and Live Action Mario Party. Evening programming includes a teen improv session and a family dance party. A Kinetic Playroom offers LEGO and Hot Wheels building activities, and the Friday night Homegrown Artists' Alley gives creators space to sell their work. The convention is inclusive across educational approaches and family backgrounds.
Built on the philosophy that every game has educational value, GameSchoolCon is a four-day family convention dedicated to gameschooling. Held each February in Irvine, CA, the event draws homeschool, unschooling, and gaming families from across the country for a free-play open game library, an exhibit hall of educational games and books, speaker panels on neurodivergent learning, tabletop RPG one-shots, a console lounge, Nerf battles, and an evening family dance. Current ownership has led the convention since 2021.
