Entirely volunteer-run since its 1986 founding, APHEA supports Alaskan families in their God-given responsibility to train and educate their children through private and home education. The annual APHEA Convention in Anchorage, held each March, gathers families from across the state for a curriculum vendor hall, general sessions, and fellowship — a meaningful gathering where geographic distances can otherwise isolate homeschoolers. APHEA serves both private school and home education families, reflecting Alaska's unique legal framework for parent-directed education.
